Manchester United 1996-97 Home Shirt, #10 David Beckham
There is a very interesting story associated to this shirt; the last year that David Beckham wore the legendary #10 shirt at United! Beckham was United's #10 - a legendary number that nobody would ever want to give up! In the summer of 1997, United completed the signing of Teddy Sheringham from Tottenham, and Sir Alex Fergusson called David to let him know that he would be losing his coveted #10 shirt in favor of Sheringham. Beckham spent the summer extremely upset about the loss, and even reportedly considered a move! However, to his surprise on the first day of training in July, Sir Alex let Beckham know he was United's new #7! And the rest is history....
